BYRON’S TESTIMONY
Before I came to the Dream Center, I was a rebellious, wicked, adulterous, and deceptive man. I was a con-artist. I was introduced into the worlds influence when I was eleven years old with my first puff on a cigarette and then my first hit of marijuana. I was unstable in what I did and resistant to my Dads authority. When I turned thirteen I did what I wanted, I got all that I needed thru manipulation. I was reckless and did not care at all. My condition and drug habits worsened as time passed. I now see the way I was living was to my own pleasure. I was filled with greed and lust, money was my god. My drug habit became uncontrollable. I would make my own alcoholic beverages and cause chaos in the village. My mother was a strong believer and she knew her time was coming. When she died I blamed God for her death even though she told me not to. As a result I was depressed and there was so much demonic influence in my life. My village despised me and even some of my own family. After many terrifying incidents and time spent in jail I got sick and tired of my life. I went to pastor Marion the only person I trusted and cried out for help. She told me about a new place opening up in Alaska called the Dream Center. She said that 78% of those who graduate never go back to drugs and alcohol.
Rob and Cherise Hyslip picked me up at the airport and brought me to the Dream Center where I started the best year of my life. During a period of time I have realized I am where I am supposed to be. The courts quashed my warrant and I was able to avoid jail time and a whole lot of trouble. By Gods divine grace and Jesus’ saving power I am delivered from the bondages of addiction. Every addiction that I encountered was crushed and broken by the word of God and the blood of lamb. I mean every addiction, marijuana, alcohol, nicotine and even sexual addictions. With such freedom came a price and that price was my life. There is a saying “The cost of freedom comes with the price of war” I waged war with my flesh and it wasn’t very pleasant. After grasping the truth of the cross I am radically changed. Christ is conforming me into the man that He wants me to be. I haven’t arrived, but I know He is working on me. It is my desire to honor Him and His will to be done. God has shown me that I can have a better life than what I use to be in. (Isa. 55:6-9) Jesus has given me incredible peace and joy that the world cannot offer. He has shown me a better life and I never want to go back to the old man that I use to be. Being in the Dream Center has been the best thing in my life; it is an honor and a blessing to have attended a program like the Dream Center in a world of darkness. By the grace of God I am who I am today! (1 cor.15:10)
